If you are a dreamer come in
If you are a dreamer a wisher a liar
A hoper a pray-er a magic-bean-buyer
If youre a pretender com sit by my fire
For we have some flax golden tales to spin
I was writing this post for the bloggers and the photographers and the mamas and the digital goddesses and I thought of this poem from Shel Silverstein.
You see, I think that learning how to use technology for photographs, storytelling, memory-keeping, and mamahood can be life-changing - no matter what your particular life might be like.
This year, I've created NINE new classes. Of those, six are available for enrollment right now, along with several other classes I've created over the past year, to provide an awesome learning experience NO MATTER WHAT you are wanting to learn about technology, memory-keeping, photography, or general Photoshop awesomeness. Today I'll focus on what you can learn at JessicaSprague.com if you're a photographer. Chances are, if you are living and breathing (ahem. let's hope. not much for zombies around here...), you take pictures. Read on:
If you take pictures, this is you. I recommend starting with my beginner-level photo editing class, and progressing through to the advanced portrait editing class:
Class 1: Photo Editing: Good-to-Great
This class is one of my most favorite - brand new for Photoshop Elements 11/12 (but compatible with earlier versions), I walk you through photo editing basics that will change your life. You will be amazed at the changes you can make to your photos that will make your heart sing. Here are a couple of examples:
This preview image is from Lesson 1 of Photo Editing: Good-to-Great. Take a GOOD photo, and with a few changes in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, make it GREAT. This lesson will take your breath away. I've watched it happen in dozens of live classes. :)
This preview image combines Lessons 2 and 3, where I show you how to create gorgeous black and white photos, crop, resize, and save them for print. Bring on the praise from friends and family!
Class 2: Photo Enhancement - Frame-ups & Masks
After you're finished wiping all the drool off of your monitor from all the people gathering to ooo and aaahh, you'll want to move on to the next class in the series, Photo Enhancement 1. In this ten-lesson class, I'll show you how to add grungy or sanded edges, swirly brushes, lens flares, textures and other special effects to your photographs.
In this sample from Lesson 3 of our class, I'll show you how to selectively recolor an image (leave the background black and white, and show color only in parts of an image), and how to add a scuffy-edged frame.
In this sample from Lesson 8 of our class, I'll show you how to add a scuffy edge to your photo, how to add a texture overlay, and how to get that great bokeh effect (the circles you can see at the bottom of the picture). You'll love this one for creating gorgeous cards and art to grace your walls!
Class 3: This Old Photo: Restoring Vintage Snapshots
This Old Photo has been one of my most popular classes, and for good reason: we all have "vintage" photographs that predate the digital camera. Whether they are awesome sepias from the 1800s or funk-a-licious color pics from the 1970s, they've taken a beating over the years: stains, tears, color shift, fading. In this class, I'll show you how to restore your vintage photos to their former glory!
In this sample from Lesson 4 of This Old Photo, I'll show you how to reverse yellowing, straighten, remove stains and creases, and bring your vintage photos back to life! If you own old photographs this class is a must-take.
I'll be back with more course paths soon!
